An Extremely Effective Way To Treat A Shoulder Impingement

On today’s #BehindTheTreatment segment, the newest addition to our team, Myrna @myrnaculala (Registered Massage Therapist), works on Carlo’s longstanding shoulder impingement from years of training in the gym and competing extensively in martial arts.

Shoulder impingement is an overuse condition that results from repetitive overhead movements. With every shoulder movement, the shoulder tendons pass through the subacromial space. If this space becomes smaller due to inflammation the tendons can catch the acromion, a boney structure in the shoulder usually causing an imbalance between tendon breakdown and tendon repair.

If left untreated, you can develop tendinitis, particularly in the supraspinatus and infraspinatus (Rotator cuff tendinosis).

Massage works in multiple ways to improve range of motion, break down Scar tissue, Release adhesions, and reduce further tendon impingement.
