Week 1: Introduction to Olympic Weightlifting

Learn the two lifts: snatch and clean & jerk
Proper technique and form for each lift
Mobility and flexibility work

Week 2: The Snatch

Break down the snatch into phases: first pull, transition, second pull, catch
Practice each phase with PVC pipes and light weights
Strength work: squats, deadlifts, overhead presses

Week 3: The Clean & Jerk

Break down the clean & jerk into phases: first pull, transition/explosion, catch, jerk
Practice each phase with PVC pipes and light weights
Strength work: front squats, push presses, lunges

Week 4: Lifting Mechanics and Positioning

Refine lifting technique and form
Learn how to set up for a lift and proper racking/unracking
Core and stability work

[Additional weeks with progressive practice of the lifts with heavier weights and complementary strength/conditioning work.]

Week 8: Testing and Competition Prep

1 rep max testing for snatch and clean & jerk
Peaking and tapering training for an upcoming competition (optional)

Review and wrap up

Q: What equipment do I need?
A: You will need a barbell, weight plates, collars, and weightlifting shoes. We will provide all the equipment for you except weightlifting shoes.

Q: Do I need any weightlifting experience?
A: No, this camp is for beginners or intermediate. We will teach you the lifts from the ground up and build your skills and strength over 10 weeks.

Q: What will a typical day consist of?
A: A typical day will include:
Warm-up and mobility work
Snatch and/or clean & jerk technique practice
Strength training (squats, deadlifts, etc.)
Additional conditioning work like weight training or cardio

Q: What are the coaches’ credentials?
A: The coaches are certified weightlifting coaches with years of experience coaching the snatch and clean & jerk. They have competed in weightlifting competitions and have trained athletes of all skill levels.

Yes, there is an age limit of 18 years or older for participants in Strength N U camps. All participants must be over the age of 18 and receive medical clearance from their doctor before registering for a camp. Additionally, all participants are required to complete a health history questionnaire before enrollment.  If you have any questions regarding the eligibility requirements, please reach out to our team and we’d be more than happy to provide further information!

Yes, Strength-N-U has a cancellation policy for its training camps. All cancellations must be received 14 days before the start of the camp to receive a full refund. Cancellations after this time will incur an administration fee of $50, and an additional charge equal to 50% of the full price, if the empty spot is not filled by the start date of the camp.  If there are any questions regarding our cancellation policy or special circumstances that warrant consideration, please reach out to our team and we’d be more than happy to provide further information!

No, there are no make-up classes for StrengthNU training camps. Each training camp has a detailed curriculum it follows that’s predesigned to begin and conclude within a specific timeframe. However, you can use the Strength-N-U Training App to conduct the workout you missed for that class and catch up on missed course materials! If you miss a class, we recommend working out on your own time or scheduling a one-on-one session with one of our experienced trainers to get caught up.   Please reach out to us if you have any further questions about our program or policies.

Best gym in Scarborough. I really like their concept of group training where you get trainer dedicated to your group which is really a limited group and I like that part the most making sure that everyone gets to use all equipments on their turn. The location of the gym is very convenient so as to commute to any side of Scarborough. I highly recommend Strength-N-U and I am an active member of the gym.
